World Communion Sunday
And Unloading Pumpkins
October 7, 2007
This year friends from Unite! and the
Compassion in Action (CIA) weekend joined us in helping to unload
pumpkins for our sale to benefit Norcross Co-operative Ministries and
The Gwinnett Women's Shelter. Many thanks to all these hard
working folks!

This was World Communion Sunday.
Louri baked 5 kinds of bread to
remind us of our unity with Christians everywhere.
It was a very meaningful
communion.
After Worship we had lunch to
"fuel up" for the hard work ahead. -->
Then the truck arrived (right on
time) from New Mexico.
So Cathy gathered us together for
instructions.
First we unload the boxes of
really small pumpkins. . .
indian corn and gourds.
We arrange the small pumpkins
some around the poles.
And some just around the tent.
The young ladies at right, from
Unite!, did some very artistic designs with these pumpkins and
gourds. One said "Don't let anybody buy these - it will
mess up our design! :-).
Next the boxes of 'mid-sized'
come off the truck - check out this photo sequence.
Then comes the big'uns - we pass
them out of the semi into pickups.
Then drive the pickups into the
"field" where we unload.
There's a job for everyone - this
is our 'cheer dog'.
A pumpkin just his size!
Youth of all ages help out.
Some with wheelbarrows.
And some just carry them.
Almost done!
Smiling faces and dirty shirts!
We closed the day with a prayer
circle.
And a Group Shot - Thanks
Everyone!
