16 guys from 5 different local Christian Churches (Disciples of
Christ) joined Peachtree Corners Christian Church at Ryan's Restaurant on June
12, 2010 at 8am for our June Men's Breakfast. Those present included
Decatur First, Sandy Springs, First Atlanta, Guyton and PCCC.
Archie Jenkins, our speaker, moved us into consideration of how
to encourage younger men, those 18-39, to become more a part of the church of
today as well as Men's Ministry activities. This age group is somewhat scarce in
many of the mainline denominations. Mentorship and service oriented gatherings
seem to be answers. But, of course, personal invitations (evangelism - the
e-word) may work best. And, don't forget prayer - (start with this actually).
Archie then talked about the Cookin' For Mission ministry, for
which we collected $143.85 (Yeah Baby!) during the meeting. Several Youth
related organizations across the nation are benefitted from the work of Cookin'
For Mission each year.
