Our Outreach Ministries

From our commitment to the Norcross Cooperative Ministry to our annual Pumpkin Patch for outreach, Peachtree Corners Christian Church is focused on mission, with an emphasis on "hands-on" service.

  • Norcross Cooperative Ministry (NCM)

Crafts at Vacation Bible School in a BoxPeachtree Corners Christian Church is pleased to support Norcross Cooperative Ministry, a faith-based, non-profit, ecumenical ministry dedicated to providing emergency assistance to families in Norcross and surrounding areas of Gwinnett County  when they are in need.  Services include food, clothing, financial aid, jobs ministry, classes in English for speakers of other languages, referrals, and small groups.  For the past five years, our church has taken Vacation Bible School to NCM for a week of hands-on Bible stories, crafts, snacks, music, games, and fun. Dubbed "VBS in a Box," this exciting program brings the love of Christ to children and families who are served by NCM.  In addition to this unique program, our church sends financial contributions through its annual Pumpkin Patch, in addition to collecting food and clothing throughout the year. We also partner with NCM for other special projects throughout the year such as collecting food for the holidays and school supplies for back to school.

  • Family Promise of Gwinnett
Setting up for Family PromiseThe mission of Family Promise of Gwinnett County is to mobilize communities of congregations that partner with social service agencies to end homelessness - one family at a time!  Peachtree Corners Christian Church serves as a host church for Family Promise starting in February of 2011.   During each hosting week, scheduled several times a year, we offer a home-like atmosphere including meals and hospitality, to families enrolled in the program.  Contact Rod Dahl or Pam Thorpe for more information about volunteer opportunities with Family Promise.
  • Gwinnett Children's Shelter

Established in 1986 by three women from the Gwinnett PTA, the shelter was established as a place of refuge for Gwinnett's abused and abandoned children.  The $2.5 million Blueprint of Hope campaign has already raised $2 million to develop a new 125 acre campus for the program including a new building to house up to 26 boys and girls under the age of 12.   A portion of our annual Pumpkin Patch proceeds supports this ministry.
  • Camp Christian

Campers at Camp BalaamOur church supports the ministries of Camp Christian, serving children of the Christian Church in Georgia at the camp’s location near Gordon, Georgia.  Through our gifts to the Camp’s Friendship Circle, hands-on volunteering, camp scholarships and other support, children and youth experience God in a beautiful outdoor camping and retreat setting.
  • Camp Balaam at Camp Christian Conference Center

A portion of our annual Pumpkin Patch proceeds provides scholarships for needy children to attend Camp Balaam, a summer camp experience in rural middle Georgia at beautiful Camp Christian.
  • Annual "Pumpkin Patch" in October

Since 1989, we have been selling pumpkins in October to support our outreach ministries.  Not only that, our pumpkin patch has become a familiar part of the community, offering a welcome visit and photo opportunities on fall days.
  • More Hands for God
Peachtree Corners Christian Church is an enthusiastic participant in "More Hands for God," an annual day of mission and service with other Disciples of Christ congregations at City of Refuge, a downtown Atlanta mission station.
  • Week of Compassion
Week of Compassion is our annual Disciples offering that provides for disaster relief around the world.  Gifts support projects from hurricane, tornado and flood relief in the U.S. to refugee relief in Darfur.  Whenever disaster strikes, you can be sure that Week of Compassion is at work, partnering with established on-the-ground agencies and organizations.
  • First Atlanta Chinese Christian Church

Our sister congregation, First Atlanta Chinese Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), meets at the church each Sunday at 2:30 pm for worship.  The Pastor is Rev. Michael Zhu.  Other prayer groups and Bible studies are scheduled throughout the week.

A portion of the the congregation's tithes and offerings to the church help support all of our outreach ministries. We encourage our members to give the first fruits of their income, and the church likewise gives of the first fruits of its budget to others, in addition to the proceeds from our Pumpkin Patch.
